Holidays 2011:  A letter from Kristine Chapman

Dear Lyceum parents and participants,

Wondering what to get the person who has it all?  Or hoping to have a green footprint this holiday season? I am writing on behalf of the Friends of the Lyceum to suggest giving a Certificate of Sponsorship in the name of someone you love, which will provide a seat at one of the Lyceum’s incredible literature and art programs for a child who would not otherwise be able to attend. 

The recipient of your gift will receive a beautiful printed Certificate of Sponsorship explaining that this gift (given in the recipient’s name) will enable a child who would not otherwise be able to participate due to economic constraints to attend the Book club, Writer’s workshop or Art Program that you have selected.  A variety of gift values are available, for example:  $50 to sponsor a child for one session of a book club, $150 for a bookclub term, or $300 to sponsor a budding young author for a term at a Lyceum writers workshop.   Last year we gave a bookclub seat in my mother’s name — she loves reading and doesn’t want to accumulate more “stuff” — and she was delighted to receive this gift, knowing that it would make a difference in a child’s life.

Not only is a sponsorship certificate a fantastic gift for a friend or loved one who supports literature and the arts, this is also an opportunity for you to support the Lyceum’s vision of providing quality programs promoting childhood literacy and creative experience to a broader range of children and families.
